For some it may be a gentle reminder of skills you already use, for others it will be a new way of exploring your patients’ needs and improving relationships with your colleagues. This session will teach you the TED principle to enable your patients and customers feel that you are actively listening, engaged with their unique issue and care about their feelings.

Many optical business owners find it extremely rewarding, fun and immensely satisfying to build a practice based on their own skills as a practitioner. However they start to struggle when they start growing their practice, decide to work less, start thinking about where it will all end or even take a short holiday! Rather than the business working for them, they become slaves to their business.
This two part workshop is designed for the practice owners who shoulder the weight of their company’s most important business decisions. It will help you to understanding your own strengths and weaknesses in terms of business in terms of six key leadership skills. In addition we will use confidential Peer to Peer facilitated issue processing to help you address some of the opportunities, issues or challenges you currently face in your business.

“Contact Lenses. Why they’re so important to today’s optometry practice – how can your practice reap the benefits?” – Breakout session 1
Did Contact Lenses keep the lights on for your practice during the pandemic? Many practices found the steady income stream from Contact Lens subscriptions provided stability and were key to survival .
Optometry has changed irrevocably in the last year due to COVID and with many practices closed for months on end, the standard income streams from the likes of spectacle frames and eye tests were not available.
In her workshop session, Denise will explore, why contact lenses are important to a practice, what they’re worth and how an independent practice can gain new patients and generate loyalty in existing patients.
“Myopia Management: Myth or Magic?” – Breakout session 2
This interactive workshop will cover the ins and outs of starting up myopia management within your practice. It will give handy hints and tip about the pitfalls and benefits for both your business and your patients.
